The Salvation Army Response to the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa
The Salvation Army is supporting communities in West Africa who are fighting against the devastating outbreak of the Ebola virus disease. For example, The Salvation Army in Liberia has been providing food, household items, protective equipment, and hygiene items to people affected by the Ebola virus in local communities, treatment centers, and those in quarantine. Present in West Africa since 1920, The Salvation Army will support these communities in their long term recovery.
While we are currently not providing first line medical treatment, The Salvation Army is increasing prevention awareness and offering psychosocial and spiritual care and support.
The Salvation Army is committed to utilize philanthropic gifts in the manner donors desire. Occasionally, conditions in the field may alter relief activities. If this occurs, The Salvation Army will redirect funds to our International relief efforts in the area.
